Foto Day 2.0 was the second photo meetup run by the local portal MM Białystok, this time inside the depot of KPKM, one of Białystok’s city bus operators. The first edition had taken place in a printing house. In the contest that followed, my photo was picked as the most interesting one.

The shoot

Thirty-six people turned up, some into photography, some into buses. Rain drove us into the wash and refuelling hall first, where buses coming off their routes get cleaned and run through big rotating brushes. Then we moved to the repair hall to watch mechanics check undercarriages, swap parts and weld bodywork. We wrapped up with a group photo next to a bus.

The prize

Twenty-one people entered, most of them under their portal usernames; mine was “neochan”. I collected the main prize, a digital camera, plus a bag of KPKM goodies from vice-president Marcin Moskwa at the company’s offices. MM Białystok’s short note on the winner said I was a third-year computer science student at Białystok University of Technology, busy with the Białystok city game among other things, and had been taking photos for about two years.
