Białystok city calendar
two of my photos, spring and winter, won the city photo contest for the calendar
- photography,
- award

In 2016 Białystok City Hall ran a photo contest called “Białystok na cały rok” (Białystok all year round). The winning shots went into the city’s 2017 wall calendar, and two of them are mine: one in the Spring category, one in Winter.
How the photos were chosen
The contest drew 674 photos, 570 of which met the rules. A jury scored them on originality and on how well they fit the theme, and picked five per category, one category for each season. Those twenty then went to a public vote on the city’s “Wschodzący Białystok” Facebook page. More than 1,300 people voted, and the top three in each season made it into the calendar. Every winner got ten copies of the calendar and a cash prize.
The calendar had one more idea of its own: it marked Catholic, Orthodox, Muslim and Jewish holidays, a nod to the cultures and faiths that shaped Białystok.
